Fight those pesky electricity vampires: Be an energy hero!

In the battle of good versus evil, Captain Current
helps students defeat electricity vampires in the
home.
There are electricity vampires lurking in your homes — behind the desk; in the family room; behind the stereo. You don’t have to face them alone — you have Captain Current on your side.

An electricity vampire may be headed to your child’s school as part of a mobile learning exhibit we developed with the Kentucky Science Center called “Captain Current vs. The Electricity Vampires.”

The science theatre show follows the friendly yet mischievous Electricity Vampire as she searches for ways to waste energy. The energy-saving hero Captain Current will ask for your kids’ help tracking down the voltage villains, all while teaching them about energy conservation and electricity generation along the way.

The mobile education unit is part of our Children’s Energy Education Program and features hands-on activity stations and pre- and post-show materials.

With the help of Captain Current, students will track down where energy is wasted and learn more about energy-related topics:

- Kindergarten - 3rd grade: Electricity flow, circuits and solar energy
- 4th grade - 5th grade: Electrical engergy, energy transfer, conductors and insulators
- 6th grade - 8th grade: Energy transformations, transmission and energy sources

The program is available to all K-8 schools in the region, but special discounts are available to schools in LG&E or KU service territory. Participating schools will have a presenter from the Kentucky Science Center lead the program, a 40-minute assembly performance for the school, up to 12 activity stations and provide Energy Pledge Cards for every student in the school.
