Working For You: New Morganfield Facility Enhances Field Operations, Customer Service
Thursday, January 12, 2012
Today brought some excellent economic development and service news for our state and customers.
Earlier this morning, we were joined by state and local leaders from the western Kentucky area to open our new, consolidated business and operations center in Morganfield.
In terms of jobs, our 23,000-square-foot facility will house about 75 employees. The largest portion of those are in a new customer contact center that employs 34 now and will employ up to 54 by the end of the first quarter this year.
Our facility also consolidates our customer service business office representatives, western Kentucky economic development representative, line technicians, meter readers and field service personnel, all under one roof.
For customers, the facility also features ample parking, a walk-in center and a customer drive-up window. A storage facility for parts and equipment is also is on the grounds.
The contact center is already fielding calls from across KU and LG&E’s 94-county service territory, becoming the company’s fourth center in Kentucky.
As Chris Hermann, our senior vice president of Energy Delivery said: “Morganfield is an excellent site to expand our operations. We already had a presence in the community and existing facilities here, and the central location makes this a prime location for another storm-management hub."
And, as KU celebrates its 100th birthday later this year, this is a great place to kick off our second century of service to the state.
We've always said that we want the same service for everyone...the very best possible. The addition of this new facility is an extension of our commitment to you and your family.
Until next time, keep using energy wisely.
