LG&E and KU are proud to sponsor a variety of festivals and events for the holidays, offering family entertainment that will dazzle your eyes and warm your hearts.
Maysville Veterans Day Concert, Maysville, Ky. (Nov. 9) – This annual tradition will feature more than eight performers and a variety of music, including Louisville’s own Patrick Henry Hughes. Concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, 156 W. Maple Leaf Road. Admission is free. Donations are encouraged to benefit the Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Mason County. For information, call Ron Walch, 606-564-5511. Veterans groups are encouraged to attend and will receive front-row seating by calling ahead.
Southern Lights Holiday Festival, Lexington, Ky. (Nov. 16 to Dec. 31) – Enjoy spectacular displays of holiday lights and animated figures all against the winter landscape of Kentucky Horse Park, 4089 Iron Works Parkway. Seasonal entertainment, craft vendors, a petting zoo, pony and camel rides are just some of the attractions to enjoy. Check the park’s events calendar for information, including admission costs which vary depending on vehicle size and day of admission.
Light up Louisville & 40 Nights of Lights, Louisville, Ky. (Nov. 23 – Dec. 31) -- The 32nd Light-Up Louisville and the first 40 Nights of Lights will feature nightly shows of light and sound from Nov. 23 through New Year's Eve, culminating with a grand finale. Opening night kicks off with a parade followed by a high-powered light show programmed to music, a large screen TV, fireworks and entertainment. It all takes place along the Fourth Street corridor (between Main and Liberty streets). Check out Louisville’s events calendar for more information.
Christmas by the River, Brandenburg, Ky. (Nov. 24 – Jan. 1) -- Brandenburg lights up River Road Nov. 24 through Jan. 1 during the annual Christmas by the River festival. Admission is free. Opening day features vendors, a parade and visits by Santa Claus. River Road will sparkle with more than 50 lighted displays. For information, call the Meade County Chamber of Commerce, 270-422-3626.
