LG&E and KU named ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year
Tuesday, March 5, 2013
Our company’s dedication to energy efficiency has earned recognition from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA is honoring LG&E and KU with a 2013 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for our continued leadership in protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency. These accomplishments will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., on March 26.
Our company has been an ENERGY STAR partner since 2009 and since that time, LG&E and KU helped spur the construction of more than 2,800 ENERGY STAR-certified homes within the service territories.
Created in 2008, the LG&E and KU Energy-Saving New Homes Program helps educate builders, customers and industry leaders about energy-efficient home construction, particularly within our service territories.
The awards are given to a select group of organizations that have exhibited outstanding leadership year after year. Selected from the nearly 20,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program, award winners have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by setting and achieving aggressive goals and employing innovative energy efficiency approaches.
