Kentucky ranks third least-expensive state for cost of living

National news source CNBC released its 2013 report today ranking the top 10 least-expensive states in which to live, based on average costs for basic needs such as a home, doctor’s visit and monthly energy bill.

This year, Kentucky ranked third least-expensive state to live in, tying with Idaho. As the state’s largest utilities, we took special note that Kentucky’s average cost for monthly energy bills was the lowest among the top five least-expensive states.

Kentucky moved up one up one rank from 2012 when the state came in fourth. According to the article, the average price data found within the report is based on the Council for Community and Economic Research C2ER Cost of Living Index, Q1 2013.
