Award-Winning Customer Service: Our Employees Answer the Call

They are the men and women who answer the call during a power outage and help you with billing questions. Our call center employees strive to bring the best in customer service and now their work has received a ringing endorsement. We’ve been recognized with two international honors that reflects our commitment to enhance excellent customer satisfaction.


We received an honorable mention, behind the first and second place finishers, during the International Quality and Productivity Center’s 14th annual Call Center Week Awards showcase. LG&E and KU competed in the Best-in-Class Call Center category for companies with call centers of fewer than 200 staff. A panel of call center experts evaluated the entrants based on responses to a questionnaire. Some of the topics included: changes to company culture; strategies for inspiring excellence and motivation among customer representatives; overall call center strategy; and the basics of running a call center.
We also earned a Top 10 finish in Benchmark Portal’s annual Top 100 Call Center Contest. Benchmark Portal determined the winners using a statistical process in which each contestant was compared against the world’s largest database of call center metrics. A few of these metrics included customer satisfaction measures, productivity and efficiency.
Our 191 call center employees have gone through eight weeks of initialundergo rigorous training followed by an additional three weeks once they areto ensure they are proficient in handling all sorts of different types of customer calls. In addition to calls about outages and billing, our reps also take calls to start, change or restore electric and gas services. We have contact centers in four4 locations in Kentucky: Louisville, Lexington, Pineville and Morganfield.
